What's Included? (other than excellent personal service and fantastic scenery!)

Slumber like a Babe - Hotels

You’re only here for a short time, beauty sleep is important as is taking in as much of Spain as you can, which is why we chose our hotels carefully, providing you with friendly and centrally located lodgings. Many hotels are found in historical buildings and are spots you can take a safe ramble from and see some sights before settling down for some Zzzzzzzzs.

Just like Mom Makes - Food

Cycling is hungry business, which is why the van sticks around, supplying snacks and refreshments to stick to the ribs and ward off a grumbling belly. It is also why the healthy, good sized portion dinners provided in the tours offer a varied and regional fare that sometimes doesn’t leave space for dessert. All breakfasts are provided and are excellent opportunities to become a connoisseur of addictive Spanish coffee. Veggies, don’t worry, we’ll let the chef know and come up with some alternatives!

Helping Hand – Support Vehicle

Don’t get bogged down with stuff, travel light, especially on your bike! Our support van not only gives you moral support, snacks and a mobile mechanic, but most importantly carries your bags, souvenirs and bottles of olive oil… all the way. Feeling a little pooped or would like to give the bum a break; jump in and chill out, watching the scenery slide by without all the sweating! The van’s also there to pick up or say adios, in designated transfer points at the end or beginning of each tour.

Gear Down and Relax – Bikes

The last thing you need to stress about is your bike for the trip, which is why we use new 24 gear TREK hybrid bikes, which can get you up the hills and are fitted with a front handlebar bag for your necessities. Take home your complimentary water bottle you deserved it! If you hate the thought of leaving your own trusty steed at home, bring it with you by all means!

Route Finders - Guides, Maps and Miles

Our guides in city tours and on the route are people who live here, have experience and know the terrain. Ask them anything, they’ll usually have an answer. They will be providing you with a run through of the day, but just in case breakfast was on the brain and you weren’t listening, everyone is given a handy guide which outlines the history of today’s route, the attractions, lunch spots and mileage. Also provided are maps for the day’s ride, but this is more a case of labelling holiday snaps than route finding as with either a guide (usually cycling with the group) or support van around to point you the way throughout the whole day, we haven’t lost anyone yet!

 A Typical Day

Still not sure what to expect? Here's a flavour of a day with Cc. Of course we don't really like to use the word 'typical' as we believe everyday is as unique as the person cycling.

08:00 - Awaken with bird song and start the day with some stretching, or....maybe stay in bed a bit longer?
08.30 - Sun's up and so are you, stocking up on those fresh rolls and coffee for breakfast
09.15 - Pack your bags and leave them in reception for the van pick-up
09.30 - Start pushing those pedals, stopping to take a photo of a Roman bridge at the edge of town
11.22 - Break for a shepherd and flock to make their way across the road
12:10 - Climb a few hills through olive grooves and see the Cc van at the top of one waiting to provide you with a cold drink and a snack
12:30 - Freewheel down a valley leading to a gorge. Admire the lake and surrounding mountains...Ooops need to change the camera memory card
13:15 - Stop for lunch at a restaurant recommended by your Cc host. Enjoy a Menu del Dia with a fellow Cc cyclist and relax for a while in the sun
14:40 - Cycle through fertile plains of red tomatoes and green peppers - only 15 km to go now!
16:30 - Arrive at the hotel (an old Spanish cortijo) and have a hot shower
17:00
- Take a stroll around the town, enjoying a glass of beer and tapas and watch the sun sink behind the mountains
19:00
- Dinner in the hotel. A 3 course meal of gazpacho, paella and almond cake, and why not an extra glass of wine!
20:45 - Time to head out into town to catch a flamenco show, or relax in the hotel

Delicious Paella
 Weather

So how much sun tan lotion shall I bring? This is question that you will need to ask as Andalusia has on average 320 days of sunshine every year - more than anywhere else in Europe! Don't forget your sunglasses. There is rarely much rain, making it perfect for cycling.

Spring (Mar - Jun) and Autumn (Sep - early Nov): pleasant cycling temperatures with sunny days and warm evenings. Spring heralds white and pink blossoming almond trees and Autumn brings an ever changing colour to the surrounding trees and fields. Cycling shorts and light tops are all that are required. Expect exceptional visibility in late Autumn.

Summer (Jul - Aug): it's hot hot hot both day and night! Enjoy cloudless and bright blue skies with outside tapas eating a must, way into the warm night. Like any activity in a hot climate, cycling in the summer means more breaks, more liquid intake (not vino!) and starting out a little earlier to miss the heat of the early afternoon. For some people, the cooling breeze of cycling is the best way to enjoy the high sun.

Winter
(Dec - Feb): the days are bright and the sun can warm the fresh temperatures. With a dusting of snow on the high mountains, the scenery can be stunning with the ice white contrasting with the sharp blue sky. Rainfall is limited, although it has been known for the sky to cloud over for a few days at a time. The evenings are cold and you will need an extra sweater to keep warm, as well as leggings and fleece to cycle in.
