The Trans Iberian Route is the Amazing Alentejo tour starting in Lisbon hooked onto the Enchanted Andalucía cycle tour. A 5% discount is included plus complimentary transfers between the 2 tours and 2 extra nights with breakfast at a 4 star hotel in Seville!

Travel from lively Lisbon to glorious Granada, via the Roman loved city Évora, Knights Templar hideaway Monsaraz, Carmen’s Seville, and ancient Cordoba.

They complement each other wonderfully as even though the areas have a similar history, (the Romans, the Moorish culture, the Inquisition and even 20th century dictators) what you find in each country is completely different in all aspects and you visit so many UNESCO Heritage sites along the way that it is hard not to lose count.

CC Advantage

Unbelievable value for a tour packed with experiences and unmissable unique luxury hotels

For a small country, Portugal has phenomenal food to try

We live in the area here throughout the year and have enjoyed showcasing our home for the last 15 years on our most popular route

Excellent 4 & 5 star hotels including a luxury convent, a historic monastery and your own enchanting Hacienda high in the olive groves

Amazing Trans Iberian Cycling Tour! My wife and I just completed the Trans Iberian ride from Lisbon to Granada with a few days in Sevilla. It was a great trip, interesting and well organised. Amazing landscapes and villages. We are glad we chose to go with Cycling Country, who are based in southern Spain after being set up by Geoff and Maggi 13 years ago. Great local guides ( thanks Geoff, Maggi, Javier, Dani and Balbino) with a professionally run operation. Accommodation was also great and in many cases the same ( or more interesting) than more expensive tour options. If you are interested in cycling in Spain or Portugal I’d thoroughly recommend Cycling Country.

Lodgings

Stay in castles, palaces, monasteries, convents and haciendas! Luxury and unique hotels are there for you after each day’s ride. See the individual tour pages for more details.

Highlight hotels include the amazing Hacienda Minerva set high in the olive groves, a converted 18th century olive mill and hacienda with its own arabic baths and pool.

One of Portugal´s best hotels, a 5 Star luxury heaven, is our hotel in Evora, with views of the quiet countryside from the piety of this enchanting 17th century convent.

Reviews

“Well organized rides, top-notch accommodations, fun group. Highly recommend!
We did two, back-to-back tours with Cycling Country: The Alentejo tour in Portugal, and the Andalucia tour in Spain. Both were excellent experiences. The routes are well-planned, the guides are organized, friendly and attentive, and the accommodations excellent. This group does not cut corners — it all felt very generous, right up to the end. And while I’m sure this can vary by group, both of our tours were also a lot of fun. A lot of laughter!”

“Transiberian Cycling Tour”
Cycling Country did a great job of making both Portugal and Spain very enjoyable and ever so memorable. Attention to detail was excellent and everyone connected with the tours was always so accommodating and willing to help. The routes were a great mix of mild and challenging, the scenery spectacular, and the accompanying walking tours informative and interesting. Cycling Country does a great job of finding luxury boutique hotels and recommends interesting restaurants on our ‘free’ evenings.
Hats off to Maggi and Geoff (gracious and approachable owners), Balbino, Javi and Dani (the long-suffering and charming guides/support crew)!”

“Transiberian Adventure”
HI Maggi (Geoff, Balbino),
Thanks so much for sending us the photo album of our ‘Canadian Tour’ of Alentejo.
These pix are a wonderful keepsake of the trip. My non cycling friends will be impressed I survived the hills (although barely). We intend to see (the others) next summer when we travel home to Manitoba for a visit. Nice to make new friends along the way.
We are just back home in Canada and suffering the usual jet lag. If you are ever out our way in Alberta be sure to let us know. Best Wishes for the continuing success of Cycling Country.”

“We cannot begin to tell you how much we loved this tour. We have cycled through 12 countries with many different tours. You offer such intimate service and attention to detail. Bravo! Take care and our heartfelt thanks. Tell Geoff that a splinter group met for dinner and everyone sang your praise.”
